Every Company has a story to tell about the "early days" We
are no different.
February of 1991, Flexpac Corporation was born into the packaging world. Founded by the current President and CEO Steven Cook, the company was founded on the challenge of making recycling easy and economically sound. The Flexpac recycled skid top was the first idea to test this concept. From the summer of 1991 to the summer of 1992 Flexpac contracted the manufacturing of its skid top to another company. In the summer of 1992 realizing the company would have to make some changes in order to grow at the rate it was possible to grow at, Flexpac purchased the machinery from the contracted company and started manufacturing the skid top on its own. It was shortly after that time when Frank Cook joined the company as Vice president of manufacturing. Working out of a small 2600 square foot building, over the next few months it became evident that a larger facility was needed. |
In the December of 1993 Flexpac moved into its new 26,000 square foot facility. In the fourth quarter of 1994 paper prices were unstable, unpredictable, and on the rise. The skid top was manufactured by laminating a roll header to an edge protector. Since paper prices were rising so did the price of edge protectors. With no end in site for price increases, something drastic had to be done. In the first quarter of 1995 Flexpac decided in order to keep cost down for them as well as their customers, they needed to manufacture their own edge protectors. In May of 1995 an old machine was purchased that would manufacture edge protectors. A few months later, Flexpac sold its first edge protector. |
In 1998 a new edge protector production line replaced the old one. In 1999 the company also has plans to add more machines in order to be even more diversified in packaging. |
